CARAMELIZED SHALLOTS WONTONS

INGREDIENTS:

1 Pack Wonton Wrappers

1 8 oz. Cream Cheese

1 Large Shallot thinly sliced

Salt and Pepper to taste

2 Tbsp Olive Oil

2 Tbsp water

Oil to deep fry wontons

Thai style sweet chili sauce (Walmart)


DIRECTIONS:

Heat up olive oil in a medium sized skillet. Add the sliced shallots and season to taste.  Cook until caramelized.  Remove from heat and add cream cheese. Mix well until combined. 

Set aside to let it cool before you start assembling the wontons. 

I like to take this time to set a little prep station, have everything ready to go so that the wrappers don't dry out. 

Now to assemble the wontons. add as much of the cream cheese mixture in the center of the wrapper as you want, just make sure it will seal properly and not fall apart when deep frying. Dip your finger into water and go around all of the edges, fold carefully and set aside. I like to keep them covered with a damp paper towel until I am ready to start deep frying. 

Make as many as you wish or until your mixture runs out. Heat up oil at medium to high temperature and start frying all of them. Every oil and stove temperature is different, so adjust accordingly. 

Serve wontons nice and hot with sweet chili sauce and enjoy!
